Thursday 11/02/2016

This morning we were able to sleep in for the first time on this trip! Us and the suitcases had to be ready for breakfast by ten. Some of us still put the alarm at seven, making sure they were wide awake and very hungry by ten.

After a delicious long bruch we went to the Marlston Hill Lookout. It was a short walk, but we had to take many, many steps to get up the tower. The view was amazing!

At around 2o'clock we left for Collie with some overexcited students in the car. The people in Collie welcomed us so friendly and we went straight to the war memorial, because we were a little late (perhaps Ms Tytgat didn't read the gps well, little detour). There was a lovely ceremony where Ayla read her poem and Camille and Casey laid the wreath together with 2 Australian students. Then we went to the RSL where we were also welcomed very warmly.

At about 4.30 p.m. there was a civil reception at the town hall and we received some beautiful gifts from both Collie as Collie Senior High School. At 5 p.m. it was time to get the suitcases out of the cars and send the pupils to their host families.

We can't wait to hear their stories tomorrow.
